The Word Network
Today “The Word Network” is the largest African-American religious network in the world.
The Word Network was founded in February of 2000 by Kevin Adell and his father the late Franklin Z Adell. In the past twelve years the network has gained recognition as the network of choice for African American programming by featuring ministries, an informative Christian focused television lineup and gospel music.
Since the network’s launch in 2000, “The Word Network” based in Southfield, Michigan, is available in over 200 countries reaching millions of viewers in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Americas. The Word Network reaches nearly 86 million homes in the U.S. alone through DirecTV, Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks, Cox, Cablevision, Charter, and a host of other cable operators and another 9 million homes on Sky TV in the U.K. In addition The Word Network is also provided to one million men and women serving in the United States Armed Forces in over 65 countries. The Word Network has continued to expand its reach and is now also seen in Latin America which has a population of 582,554,334.
The Word Network’s broadcasting technology continues to evolve making the network accessible to not only terrestrial and satellite viewers, but available on “The Word Network” website streaming internet and is also available to thousands of air travelers daily through “In Flight” services on selected aircraft carriers.
In November of 2011, CEO and owner Kevin Adell announced that he had personally selected Paul Crouch, Jr. to further enhance, and propel the growth of the network by appointing him as Director of Project Development. “Paul Jr has a proven track record and a wealth of experience in religious broadcasting. I look forward to working with Paul to help expand The Word Network throughout the Christian community,” stated Kevin Adell. Paul Crouch Jr. has assembled a knowledgeable and dynamic team which now includes Brandon Crouch, to assist him in furthering the ongoing expansion and growth of the Project Development component of The Word Network.
The Word Network offers a wide variety of ministries including, Bishop TD Jakes, Bishop Charles H. Ellis III, Bishop Noel Jones, Dr. Michael Freeman, Dr. Mark Chironna, Pastor R.A. Vernon, Bishop Walter Scott Thomas, Paula White, Joyce Meyer, Michael Freeman, Benny Hinn, Joseph Prince, Raul Ries, and Dr. Fredrick K Price.
The Word network recognizes that music is a large part of the Christian experience, and offers a stellar line up of gospel artist, interviews, videos and musical specials featuring artists such as Marvin Sapp, Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, Donnie McClurkin, Hezekiah Walker, J Moss, Deitrick Haddon, CeCe Winans and Byron Cage, and newcomers such as Wess Morgan and VaShawn Mitchell, to name just a few.

Through the years, The Word Network has not only broadcast live conferences, but has also participated as a sponsor as well, The Essence Music Festival in New Orleans, Louisiana, The Steve Harvey Hoodie Awards in Las Vegas, Nevada, The Merge Summit from Los Angeles, California, I Hear Music In the Air, music conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, The NBA All-Star Gospel Brunch in Los Angeles, California, The Donnie McClurkin Perfecting Music Conference and the International Financial and Leadership Summit from Houston, Texas. In addition, The Word Network has hosted telethons featuring, Juanita Bynum, Paula White, Noel Jones, Bishop George Bloomer, Bishop Darryl Scott and Jamal Bryant, as well as hosting the live “Friday Night Service with the Word”.
Growth and Innovation
In May of 2012 “The Word Network” completed a multimillion dollar state of art expansion on the campus of their international headquarters. The expansion includes production facilities, edit suites, green rooms, executive conference room, and additional offices, in addition to a ground up build out of a television studio with the latest in cutting edge technology. The television studio is capable of handling church services, telethons, live performance, and interviews. The Word Network has the ability to bring the studio to the people with technology that is not just in house but mobile as well.
On the Road with The Word Network
“The Word Network” has the capability of going on the road and producing remote productions by utilizing our state of the art production truck.
At “The Word Network” our commitment to the Christian community is top of mind. In 2011 “The Word Network” created “The Word Network Foundation”. “The Word Network Foundation” is created with donations and bequests by “The Word Network”. The foundation is an independent, nonprofit, nongovernmental organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for disadvantaged individuals through human service community initiatives, arts and media projects, and educational programs. “The Word Network Foundation” emphasizes academic excellence, leadership, and community service. Our vision is to provide opportunities that improve the lives of individuals in our communities, through financial contributions, in-kind services and volunteerism.
